Celebration of Durga Puja
Durga Puja is the most important festival for the Bengalis. Over the years, this occasion is celebrated all over India as well as in the international arena. Durga Puja is widely celebrated in the UK and for the first time the Bengali Cultural Association is making great efforts to make this celebration a reality in Peterborough.
Durga Puja occurs every once a year in autumn and we celebrate this occasion because we show our admiration and respect to Ma Durga on her victory over the evil.
This special occasion depicts the power of goodness which always overcomes evil and through this celebration we acknowledge and awaken our hearts to this basic fact of life and revere the
Mahashakti.

Ma Durga
Once every year,
We rid of all our fears.
The time comes
When Ma Durga enters the circle of light and love,
She comes down from above,
And gives us the power and strength that
We need to shield ourselves from evil.
She will fight day and night,
With all her power and might.
To prove what is right.
She will fight until the very end,
She will protect us because she is our true friend.
